Liverpool's Xabi priority Real Madrid target

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's No1 summer target.
 
While he is lining up a bid for Arsenal kid Cesc Fabregas, Perez remains determined to also bring Xabi back to Spain at the end of this season.

Perez has been told by technical chiefs, including Benito Floro, that he must sign the ex-Real Sociedad man - while former sports director Jorge Valdano said recently that the Liverpool ace was the ideal player to fill the void left by Claude Makelele.

Perez still regrets listening to former Real coach Jose Antonio Camacho and allowing Xabi to slip through his net to sign for Liverpool two years ago.
