Liverpool revive move for Real Sociedad's Xabi

Liverpool have revived their interest for Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez made an enquiry after Xabi last week, but was told nothing would be decided over the 22 year-old's future until the signing of Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta was complete.

With Arteta's move rubberstamped on Sunday, Real are now ready to entertain offers for Xabi - whose own priority is to seal a move to Real Madrid.

Benitez sees Xabi as the ideal midfield partner for captain Steven Gerrard and will fight Real Madrid tooth-and-nail to convince the youngster to choose Anfield over the Santiago Bernabeu.
