Liverpool Move For Real Madrid Pass Master

Brendan Rodgers looks set to continue his incredible summer spending after submitting a £13.9million offer for Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Liverpool have already completed deals for six players this summer with Christian Benteke currently undergoing a medical to push the intake up to seven.

Illarramendi has struggled to cement his place in Real Madrid’s first-team since his arrival from Real Sociedad back in 2013 and is keen to secure a starting berth in order to bolster his chances on the international stage.

According to the Metro, the 25-year-old has now been told that he is surplus to requirements by new manager Rafael Benitez and Liverpool have moved to snap him up on the cheap.

Rodgers has plenty of cash to spend having sold winger Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £49million and it is thought Madrid are ready to accept their offer for Illarramendi.
