Liverpool have made approach to sign Real Madrid ace, star player promise

Spanish newspaper Marca on Thursday have a feature on the future of wonder-kid Martin Odegaard. The 17 year old isn't getting the first team appaearnces he may have hoped for at this stage and there have been rumours of a possible loan transfer.

Marca claim that Liverpool are the latest club to make an attempt to sign the player, with the selling point being that Klopp is a great coach for youngsters and that he'd have a star role in the team, however, Madrid have turned down any exit including a loan.

We would find the claims hard to buy because even though Odegaard is very talented, it's highly doubtful he could arrive at Liverpool and be the star of the team. The Merseyside club would have to nurture Odegaard, manage his training and appearances, and it's likely he wouldn't feature much for the first couple of months at the very least.

Therefore the idea of him arriving as the star of the show is perhaps a bit arrogant from the Madrid media, given that he's largely failed to be the outstanding star of Castilla and had problems along the way. It's absolutely worth the time and effort with a player like Odegaard, but not if you don't own them and are essentially putting in the work for someone else
