Liverpool go for £15M Raul amid Real Madrid split

Liverpool are banking on a split at Real Madrid to help them land striker Raul.
 
Several Bernabeu chiefs believe the time is right to cash in on the star as Real look to move into a new era.

Skipper Raul, 27, is seen by the majority of the board as untouchable. But marketing-driven president Florentino Perez is determined to shake up his multi-million pound squad after a second season without a trophy.

Liverpool boss Benitez is lining up a £15million raid for Raul. But the player is convinced that Real do not want to let him go.

He said: "I'm not thinking about playing in England. My future is in the Spanish league. It would be very complicated for me to go there."
