Liverpool chasing Real Madrid's Meija

Liverpool are chasing Real Madrid defender Alvaro Meija.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez worked with Meija while coach at Real and is keen to bring the centre-half to Anfield. However, Real's presidential elections have stalled talks.

The agents of Meija, Juan Aisa and Jose Miguel González, have been in contact with Liverpool about a deal for the player.
