Liverpool boss: We won't break bank for Morientes

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez won't pay over the odds for Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes.

Benitez said: "It is a holiday in Spain at the moment but Morientes has said he would like to come here and we will know more in two or three days."

"We have a clear idea of the price and we are not going to enter an auction."

"He is a good player and a good option but we have other ones."

"They are in England as well, which is a bit easier because they understand the Premiership."

He added: "The chairman and the people at Madrid know the situation and that he has said he wants to come to Liverpool."

"They will not change because he has played for six minutes - but we are looking at others just in case."
