Liverpool boss Benitez wants Real Madrid's Guti

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is keen on Real Madrid midfielder Jose Maria Guti.
 
The 29 year-old Spanish international has lost his first team place in recent weeks and chose to gag himself this week from speaking with the media over his frustrations.

Real insist Guti is not for sale and would only consider parting with the midfielder for an irresistible offer. Benitez has been made aware of Real's stand, but will demand Guti if they come knocking with an offer for his captain, Steven Gerrard.

Guti is contracted to Real until 2008 and at 29 knows this could be his last chance to win a lucrative move to the Premiership.
