Liverpool boss Benitez pushes for Real Madrid's Solari

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is pushing to secure Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari to a pre-contract.

Benitez wants to bring the Argentina international to Anfield next season and is hopeful Liverpool's board can outbid rival offers for the left-sided midfielder.

Solari scored a stunning goal for Real on Sunday which prompted vice-president Emilio Butragueno to declare that the winger deserved a new contract.

However, with Robinho to arrive from Santos in the summer, it is expected that this will be Solari's last season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
