Liverpool beat Man Utd, Barcelona for Real Madrid's Solari

Liverpool have reportedly pipped Manchester United for Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari.

The Argentina international is off contract in the summer and has been speaking with United, Barcelona and AC Milan about a Bosman move next season.

However, the Daily Star Sunday says Reds boss Rafa Benitez has convinced Solari to snub United and join Liverpool where his Spanish-speaking contingent will help the midfielder settle quickly in England.
