Liga Wrap: Celta And Betis Both Win

Celta Vigo and Real Betis kept up the pace on those above them with wins over Alaves and Espanyol respectively.

An Antonio Karmona own-goal and a Peter Luccin penalty gave Celta a 2-0 half-time lead against Alaves, before Adrian Ilie replied for the Basques after the break.

Betis, meanwhile, raced into a 2-0 lead at Espanyol thanks to Capi and Juanito, before Cyril Domoraud and Joaquin were sent-off in different incidents. Goals from Roger and Savo Milosevic brought the guests level, but a Fernando double ensured that Betis walk off with all three points. David Garcia was sent-off for Espanyol late on.

In the day's other game Athletic Bilbao were humbled 3-1 at home by Osasuna. John Aloisi put the side from Pamplona ahead, only for Ismael Urzaiz to level. However, goals from Inaki Munoz and Ivan Rosado saw the visitors pick up a valuable win.
