Liga Saturday Wrap: Valencia Crowned Winter Champions

While the big news out of La Liga's Saturday action was Real Madrid's loss to Sociedad, but there were two others games being played.

Valencia took full advantage of Madrid's loss and beat Albacete 1-0.

Jorge Lopez converted a penalty kick in the 9th minute to give Los Ches the win.

With this win Valencia leapfrog Madrid for first in the table and are crowned winter Champions as the first half of the schedule is now complete.

Celta Vigo picked up a 4-2 win over Mallorca.

Vigo was trailing 2-1 until Mallorca's Nene was sent off in the 69th minute.

This was the turning point of the match as Vigo took full advantage and scored 3 unanswered goals.

Celta got goals from Ignacio, Luccin, Jesuli and Milosevic while Mallorca's two goals came from Bruggnik and and an own goal from Berizzo.
