Liga Reaction: Aguirre Delighted That His Plan Came Together

Javier Aguirre has revealed the tactical plan he devised to help Osasuna defeat title chasers Real Madrid in the El Sadar.

The former Mexico boss was delighted after Christian Manfredini's goal sealed an unlikely victory for the Navarrese outfit.

"If you let Madrid's players have the ball then they will kill you," he explained.

"From the start we decided to fight them for every ball and not allow them time to think when they had it."

"This is a superb win because Madrid are up there battling for the championship."

Vicente Del Bosque was philosophical after match and praised Osasuna for their display.

"We are still up near the top and our position has not been affected greatly," he said. "This is a very exciting league."

"We felt very uncomfortable throughout the match because of the work that Osasuna put in."

"We fought until the end, but we have failed to score when we needed to."

"Osasuna wanted to win the game more than we did. We went out to win, but we have not played well enough to do so."
