Let Real Know I'm Free, Rivaldo Tells Roberto Carlos

"Roberto Carlos, tell Valdano to give me a call here in Brazil. I am an unemployed, man". It was with this ironic declaration during a Sunday football show on Brazilian TV network Record that Rivaldo tipped on where he would like to be playing next season: Real Madrid, the same team of his Seleção buddy Roberto Carlos and ex-Argentinian player Jorge Valdano, today a director in the Merengue club.

Rivaldo, who is spending his vacation in Mogi-Mirim, a small town on the country side of São Paulo, spoke for the first time about the end of his Catalan adventure during a sports programme through a phone link. Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos was at the TV network studio in São Paulo and heard the relaxed remarks made by Rivaldo, not forgetting to invite his mate to join him in Madrid.

"I am unemployed", said Rivaldo giggling. "I thought you were in Barcelona already. We are waiting for you to wear the merengue jersey, Riva", replied Carlos. "Ask Valdano to call me in Mogi-Mirim. I am waiting on his call", Rivaldo added.

Rivaldo also said that he is going to be listening to different offers he expects to get and mentioned Atletico de Madrid are also interested in his services. He took the opportunity to discard a return to the Brazilian football scene.
