Lassana Diarrà Set For Real Madrid Nod After Guti Injury

Lassana Diarrà could be chosen to play in the Champions League ahead of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar after Guti was ruled out for at least a month.

Guti has been ruled out for at least a month and that could mean Lassana Diarrà being included in the Champions League squad as Real Madrid's problems transferred themselves to the squad on a day that saw club president Ramón Calderón resign.

The playmaker was expected to be back in action against Osasuna at the weekend, but he has now been told that he can expect to take at four weeks to recover from his latest injury.

Coach Juande Ramos had hoped that Guti would be back in action only to be told that the player had a muscle tear in his left leg and will not be available again until mid-February.

That could now mean that Madrid's dilemma over whether to include Diarrà or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is resolved with the former needing to be named as cover in the midfield.

Jerzy Dudek is also out of action after suffering a muscle injury and is set to be unable to train or play for two or three weeks meaning that Ramos will call up Jordi Codina.

The Catalan youngster has not made an appearance for the club this term, but his previous outing came last season when he played against Levante.
