Lassana Diarra’s Real Madrid Deal Delayed?
Lassana Diarra has yet to complete his proposed move to Real Madrid.
Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra has admitted that his proposed transfer to Real Madrid is yet to be concluded and that he is waiting for news.
The two clubs have agreed a deal which will see the French international swap Fratton Park for the Bernabeu, with the fee reported to be in the region of €20 million.
However, Los Merengues have yet to officially announce the deal and currently Diarra remains a Portsmouth player.
According to Setanta, the deal is being delayed due to Diarra’s wage demands and the situation is likely to alert Manchester City, who are also keen on signing the 23-year-old.
Diarra has also reportedly told Spanish newspaper Marca that he is hoping his future will be resolved shortly.
"I cannot talk, but I hope my future will be settled soon - within the next few days," he said, before adding, “That is all that I can say.”
The French international has previously admitted that the prospect of moving to Real Madrid is a dream move for him.
Whilst there is nothing to suggest the transfer will fall through, Diarra was unwilling to speculate as to what the next few days will bring, saying simply: "I cannot say anything and you have to respect that. I will talk in a few days, but now I cannot say anything."
Diarra is currently recuperating from an ankle injury, but should he finally conclude his transfer to Madrid as expected, he will be joining his third club since leaving Chelsea in 2007.
