La Liga president expects both Mbappe and Haaland at Real Madrid next summer

With all the talks about Barcelona president Joan Laporta meeting Mino Raiola in Italy to discuss the possibility of a transfer involving Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, La Liga president Javier Tebas has had his say on the matter.

Earlier this week, Laporta was believed to have held a secret meeting with superagent Raiola in Torino. Fabrizio Romano broke the story while also indicating that four players, including Haaland, had been discussed during the meeting.

Laporta has had his sights set on the 21-year-old Norwegian international ever since he was re-elected as president earlier this year. The Barça president is intent on making a marquee addition in the summer and sees the Dortmund hitman as the perfect option.

However, Javier Tebas has claimed that the chances of the Catalan club pulling off a deal for the ex-RB Salzburg star are very slim. Instead, the La Liga president claimed that Real Madrid could snap up both Haaland and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

"Barça currently has very few possibilities of signing Haaland. There has to be so many events to happen first. Joining the CVC agreement would help though. I expect both him and Mbappe to join Real Madrid," Tebas explained, while speaking at the AS Sports Awards ceremony (h/t Meridiano).

Tebas then added that he hoped that the two superstars would end up in La Liga while reiterating that Los Blancos have the capability to sign both of them. "“I hope they end up at Real Madrid or any other Spanish team. But Real Madrid has the capacity to bring both of them if they want to."

Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires in a little over six months and a free transfer switch to Real Madrid looks only a formality at this point. As for Haaland, there are several other clubs competing, including Premier League champions Manchester City. So, it will certainly be interesting to see where he ends up.
