La Liga Fixtures: Madrid At Barça In December

Real Madrid will be hoping to end their Riazor hoodoo after being given a trip to Deportivo La Coruña while Barcelona travel to Numancia on the opening day of the new Spanish league season and travel to Camp Nou on December 14.

Bernd Schuster's team face a tricky start to the new campaign which kicks off on the weekend of August 30 and 31 in what is the most attractive fixture of the first round.

In Pep Guardiola's first ever official game in charge of Barça, he will be hoping for a positive result from a trip to newly-promoted Numancia.

The first clásico of the season takes place in the 15th round of matches when Madrid go to Barcelona on December 15, while the return fixture on May 3 in the Bernabéu.

Valencia entertain Mallorca in Unai Emery's first game at the helm, while Sevilla face a very tough trip to El Sardinero to play last season's surprise outfit Racing Santander.

The two other top flight newcomers, Sporting and Málaga face Getafe and Atlético de Madrid at home and both will be hoping to make strong starts like the promoted sides did last term.

The season is due to finish on the last weekend in May, 30 and 31, while there will be two rounds of midweek games played, on Wednesday, September 24 and Wednesday April 22.

Spain's participation in the Confederations Cup as champions of Europe, means that the Copa del Rey has been brought forward and will take place on May 13.
