LA Galaxy chief: Real Madrid tried to buy back Beckham

LA Galaxy supremo Alexi Lalas has revealed Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon attempted to buy back David Beckham earlier this summer.

"It's true," Lalas confirmed to AS, "they tried to re-sign him - but it was not possible."

"There's wasn't the only offer, we received proposals from other major clubs. There is no clause in Beckham's contract that prevents him from returning to Europe.

"We will consider all offers, but we do not want to sell the player."
