Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain and has even asked the club to facilitate a transfer following Lionel Messi's arrival from Barcelona, according to reports in France.
Mbappe, 22, has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract at Parc des Princes and has long been linked with a move away to Liverpool or Real Madrid.
Los Blancos are believed to be the frontrunners for his signature, and reports coming out of France suggest a move could happen as early as this summer.
Journalist Thibaud Vezirian tweeted: "Kylian Mbappé wants to leave. He has requested his exit voucher and does not wish to extend.
"Either it's Real Madrid this summer, or a free start in a year. He had already warned several weeks ago that he did not want to play with Messi."
Messi's arrival was greeted by more than one jubilant social media post from Neymar, who was also pictured on holiday with the Argentine in Ibiza last month.
But there was radio silence from Mbappe as rumours continue to swirl over the French mega-star's future amid links with Real Madrid.
For his part, Messi seems delighted about the prospect of lining up alongside Mbappe.
On playing alongside the World Cup winner, as well as his former Barcelona team-mate Neymar and Real Madrid rival Sergio Ramos, Messi said: "It is really crazy and I am really happy about that."
"Sharing the day-to-day life with them and the squad, the team is incredible and I really want to train and compete now because I am going to be playing with the best players. It is an incredible experience."
If reports are true that Mbappe has requested a move away from PSG, he might have a hard time getting a deal past club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
"I think we have the most competitive team. Now there is no choice for Kylian but to stay here in Paris," Al-Khelaifi said as Messi was unveiled on Wednesday.
"I think everybody knows the future of Kylian, people from Paris and the players. He is a really competitive player. He wants to win, he wants to win trophies, he said it in public."
"He wanted a competitive team and I think we have got the most competitive in the world. So there is no excuse for him now. He can’t do anything else but stay."
