Kluivert on Real switch

Patrick Kluivert has declared that is he does not reach a new agreement with Barcelona then he look at all offers, even if Real Madrid want him.

Kluivert has been locked in talks with the Catalan outfit, who are keen to see him renew his contract which expires at the end of next season, but reports suggest that the Barca frontman is asking for a huge pay rise to match the salaries of Spain’s top earners, Raul, Luis Figo and Rivaldo.

However, Barcelona are keen to make sure that the pay demands of their playing staff do not get out of hand and have no desire to see Kluivert simply name his price.

The player provoked fighting talk in the Barca camp on Sunday by admitting: "If I can't sort this out with Barca then perhaps I'll have to look at other solutions, even if that means joining Real Madrid."

But the player does deny that he has already signed for Barcelona’s most hated rivals, he says: “I have not reached an agreement with Real Madrid. I am not that kind of a guy. Barcelona comes first for me, but of course, if we do not reach an agreement, I will keep my options open for other clubs to offer me a contract."

Kluivert’S comments have not gone down well in the Barca back room with Blaugrana directors Gabriel Masfurrol and Joan Castells claiming that the Dutch ace does not feel any loyalty towards the club.

Castells told Catalunya Radio on Sunday night: "Today's players aren't what they used to be, when they would die for their club. We've lost that romanticism and it appears that no-one really cares."

The Dutch star would cause uproar amongst Barca fans if he follows Luis Figo to Real Madrid, but it seems that the only one who is sure that the striker will not leave the Nou Camp is club chairman, Joan Gaspart.
