Kenyon: Chelsea won't adopt Real Madrid galacticos policy

Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon says they'll never go down the Real Madrid path of signing galacticos to market their image around the world.
 
Kenyon, who spent the past week trying to bring his pursuit of Lyon's Michael Essien to a conclusion, said the club's long-term plan is to dominate the Premiership for "many years".

"I hope we go forward very differently to Real Madrid because I have never been a supporter of that model. We are not buying players here for the shirt sales, we are buying players to make us successful," he said.

"If you look at the average age of the squad it is 24, if you look at the backbone they are English. They are two fundamental differences. We are not the Harlem Globetrotters. We take a longer-term view of the success of the club."
