Karanka sweats on scan results

Aitor Karanka will undergo a scan this afternoon to learn the full extent of the hamstring injury he picked up against Alaves.

The 28-year-old defender suffered the injury in the 34th minute of Saturday's clash and had to be replaced by B team hopeful Francisco Pavón.

Doctors at Real Madrid will perform a scan on Karanka's right leg on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane has revealed that food poisoning was the reason why he missed the trip to Alaves.

"I couldn't stop vomiting," he said. "I'm still quite weak although I reckon that in a couple of days I'll be feeling better."

"I plan to catch up with the training and so hopefully, I should be in good shape for the Celta match next Sunday."
