Kaiserslautern Give Up On Cambiasso

1. FC Kaiserslautern have lost whatever little hope they had of luring under-utilized Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Cambiasso to Germany.

The Bundesliga side were determined to bring in the 22-year-old midfield all-rounder as a replacement for the long-term injured Ciriaco Sforza and even managed to convince Real to lend them the Argentine. Cambiasso refused to give his blessing to the deal, however, and it looks increasingly certain that his resolve will not weaken.

"My feeling is that we won't succeed in changing his mind," lamented Lautern leader Erik Gerets. "That's a real shame as he is a top-talent and would have fit perfectly into our system."
