Kaiserslautern Desperate To Convince Cambiasso

Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern refuse to give up on signing Esteban Cambiasso despite the fact that the Argentine starlet has made it clear that he has no desire to move to Germany.

"We have tried to set up talks but for one reason or another we still haven't got around a table," explained 1FCK boss Erik Gerets, who has earmarked the 22-year-old as the ideal replacement for the long-term injured Ciriaco Sforza.

It is a frustrating situation for the Red Devils as they are -in theory at least- tantalizingly close to completing the deal after having reached an agreement with Real Madrid.

"When a player the stature of Cambiasso becomes available, it can drive you crazy if you don't manage to get him," acknowledged Gerets.
