Juventus thump Madrid 3-1 to set up all-Italian final

Juventus produced a superb all-round display to overwhelm holders Real Madrid 3-1 on Wednesday for a 4-3 aggregate victory that sets up the first-ever all-Italian Champions League final.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Juventus tore into the nine-times champions from the off and goals by Frenchman David Trezeguet and fellow striker Alessandro Del Piero put them deservedly 2-0 up at the break.

Madrid, winners three times in the last five years, should have levelled the tie on aggregate in the 67th minute when substitute Ronaldo was brought down in the box, but Gianluigi Buffon easily saved Luis Figo's subsequent weak penalty.

Inspirational Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute and Zinedine Zidane's 89th-minute shot came too late to prevent the historic May 28 Old Trafford meeting with AC Milan, who edged past City rivals Inter on the away goals rule after a 1-1 San Siro draw on Tuesday.
