Juve's Zidane swoop fury

Juve's general Manager Luciano Moggi has blown a possible deal between Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid.

Italian Media reports today suggest that Jorge Valdano, one of the managers of the Merengues, was trying to negotiate with the player's agent Alain Migliaccio behind Juve's back.

If Real had made an official bid for Zidane the Bianconeri may have at least taken the time to evaluate it, however, now that Moggi has discovered Valdano's trick Zidane has become absolutely untouchable.

Reports coming from Turin indicate that the team's management is absolutely furious with the Spanish side for trying to get to their player without turning to them first.

In any case, Valdano's move was not exactly the best strategy to sign the player since Zidane still has a four-year deal with the Bianconeri.

Since in Italy there is no such thing as a rescission clause fee, there was absolutely no chance that Real could have signed Zidane without Juve's consent as happened last season with Luis Figo's transfer from Barcelona.

Roberto Bettega, the team's Vice-President, has confirmed that Real Madrid officials have never asked for Zizou when he commented: "We have recently met Real's President Florentino Peres at an International meeting between European Clubs and he has never even brought up the subject."
