Julio Cesar rejects Real exit

Brazilian defender Julio Cesar had declared that he wants to complete his contract with Real Madrid, despite efforts by the club to sell him.

Real are keen to inject cash into the club to help finance their top summer signings: Zinedine Zidane and possibly Valencia's Gaizka Mendieta. Cesar, meanwhile, will not hear of a move away from the Bernabeu.

The 22-year-old central defender has attracted interest from the English Premier League with UEFA Cup winners Liverpool set to battle with Tottenham Hotspur for the player's signature.

Both The Reds and Spurs have offered Real the same amount of money for Cesar – $US 9.1m (£6.5m) - and Real are nudging the player to take his pick.

But Cesar said: "My aim is to complete my contract with Real Madrid and play out the next three seasons. I want to show that I am the centre-back that they are looking for. If the club wants to sell me then I'll be left with no option but to leave. The only thing that I won't be up for is more loans to other clubs."
