Jorge Valdano: Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos is one of the best center backs in the world

Former Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano has voiced his opinion that Spain international Sergio Ramos is one of the best center backs in the world.

"Using Sergio Ramos at center back has proven to be a superb solution to the defensive issues," Valdano told El Larguero.

The 25-year-old has mainly been used as right-back at Santiago Bernabeu, but the former Sevilla star has been playing in a central role in the past few weeks due to Ricardo Carvalho's absence.

And Valdano has been impressed with Ramos' recent displays at the heart of the Madrid backline.

"He has done a great job, and we're talking about one of the best center backs in the world, in my opinion."

Real Madrid has conceded only once in its last eight competitive matches and sits top of the Primera Division table.
