Jol: Hamburg can't stop Van der Vaart joining Real Madrid

Hamburg coach Martin Jol is prepared to lose star midfielder Rafael van der Vaart to Real Madrid.

"It would be bad news for Hamburg if Van der Vaart left the club because he's been three years with us and has contributed greatly to the team," said Jol.

"But if the player wants to go to Spain we cannot stop him."

Jol also revealed: "We've rejected a £5 million offer from Real for the Dutch midfielder."
