Real Betis winger Joaquin has made president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera aware that if he is to leave the club, then Real Madrid is his preferred destination.
Despite rival offers from Chelsea and Barcelona, Joaquin is convinced about a move to Real.
Betis supremo Lopera will now hold talks with Real Madrid counterpart Florentino Perez about a fee for the young winger. Betis want £16 million for the Spanish international.
If the two clubs fail to agree terms, Joaquin has told Lopera he is happy to sign a new contract with Betis.
"I am happy here," said Joaquin. "But football is business and if my sale can benefit Betis then I am ready to go."
The player and his fiancé have already begun house-hunting on the outskirts of Madrid in recent weeks.
