Joaquin: I Would Like To Be Figo's Heir In Madrid

The Golden Boy of Spanish soccer, Joaquin, has fuelled speculation that he is destined for the Bernabeu.

Real Betis' ultra-talented winger has being going from strength to strength since his excellent World Cup performances and he's currently spearheading Betis' brilliant form in La Liga.

He has been dubbed 'The Spanish Figo' and while the youngster is in no rush to leave Betis it is clear he would like relish a move to the European Champions.

When questioned about replacing Figo at Real in an interview with Italian newspaper 'Gazzetta dello Sport', Joaquin said: "Since I was small I have always been a Madridista, so it is clear I would like to (be the heir to Luis Figo in Real Madrid)."

"But this is something I don't wish to think about now. I am a professional and in soccer nothing is certain."

It is not just Real Madrid that have been linked with the budding superstar, but the player adds that if he was to leave Spain it would be for Italy.

"It is an honour to know that there is so attention in me. Not only in Italy, but also English clubs are interested in me. If I must leave Spain, I would prefer to go to Italy. Because there are some great clubs, like Inter, Juve, Milan and Roma. Also because the life style is very similar to ours," he added.
