Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has been ruled out of action for the next month due to a thigh muscle tear suffered in Colombia’s match against Peru.

In Colombia’s recent match against Peru, James was forced off the pitch in the 59th minute after taking a nasty spill on a hard challenge that left him unable to put weight on his ankle.

While preliminary tests led the Colombia physios to believe that the injury was merely a bone bruise, James returned to Madrid on Wednesday afternoon and when straight to the clinic on Thursday to undergo more definitive tests, while the club was left hoping that the player would be fit for this weekend’s La Liga clash against Espanyol.

While Real Madrid may have been optimistic that James would be fit in two days, they were disappointed to learn that James had suffered a torn thigh muscle with early reports stating that the Colombia will be out of action for the next month.

"Following the tests carried out on James Rodríguez today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a tear in his left thigh muscle, resulting from a knock he sustained during the match between Colombia and Peru. His condition will be evaluated."

Luckily for Los Blancos, they are fully covered in his position with Isco or Jese set to face the Catalans in the afternoon and the four La Liga games to follow.
