Real Madrid are patiently awaiting the return of James Rodriguez after the player suffered a knee injury while on international duty with Colombia this past week.
In Colombia’s recent match against Peru, James was forced off the pitch in the 59th minute after taking a nasty spill on a hard challenge that left him unable to put weight on his ankle.
While preliminary tests have confirmed that it is nothing more than a bone bruise, James returned to Madrid on Wednesday afternoon and will report for his first training session on Thursday, where he will then meet with the club physios to determine in the player is fit to play for in Los Blancos’ upcoming La Liga clash against Espanyol.
Real Madrid are optimistic that James will take the two days to recover and be fit for this Saturday’s clash in Cornella, but are fully covered in his position with Isco set to face the Catalans in the afternoon.
James suffered a right foot fracture this past February, which required surgery that kept the player out of action for over two months, something that Real Madrid are desperately hoping isn’t the case this time.
