He has been receiving treatment for the condition and has been working out in the club's gym to retain muscle tone.
The news will be a relief for coach Vicente Del Bosque, who has been using B team stars Francisco Pavón and Rubén González while Aitor Karanka has been out with a muscle tear.
Campo has no chance of starring in Sunday's game against Barcelona, with the central defence likely to be covered by Fernando Hierro and Iván Helguera.
