Real Madrid playmaker Isco has reached an agreement in place to sign a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022, according to Cadena Ser. Yet the Spanish radio station claims that his long-term future at the Champions League winners remain uncertain amid recent speculations linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have all committed their long-term future to Real Madrid in recent weeks as part of a campaign of contract renewals at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe are expected to follow the same footsteps in the coming days while Cadena SER are now claiming that Isco and right-back Dani Carvajal will go next – despite the playmaker's long-term future at the La Liga leaders remains up in the air.
The decision has an explanation though as the Spanish international's current contract at Real Madrid is set to expire in the summer of 2018. This means that the La Liga giants will need to negotiate his departure on the cheap at the end of the current season in order to avoid losing him for free the following summer.
Cadena SER reports that Real Madrid have thus decided to extend the 24-year-old's contract until the summer of 2022 in order to avoid that situation. This way, even if Los Blancos decide to sell the player in the near future, they will be in a better place to negotiate his sale.
