Is Beckham cruising towards Real exit?

David Beckham is reported to have infuriated his coach at Real Madrid, Fabio Capello, by attending the star-studded wedding of American film star Tom Cruise.

Former England captain Beckham is expected to attend the wedding just outside Rome Saturday with his wife Victoria, despite that decision flying in the face of orders from Capello.

The Italian handler said Friday that Beckham had to stay in the Spanish capital, despite a knee injury ruling him out of Real's league match with Racing Santander.

However Beckham and his wife were pictured arrivng in Rome Friday, hours ahead of Cruise.

Beckham's decision to attend the wedding party could further ease his way towards the exit door of the Spanish giants.

Beckham is stalling on a new two-year contract at Real after failing to secure a regular first-team spot under Capello this season. A series of clubs have already expressed an interest in moving for him should he be made available in January.

US outfit Los Angeles Galaxy hope the high-profile player may be tempted to move to the city where one of his football academies operates. Such a move would be a major boost for the Major League Soccer competition.

It could attract other world stars to follow suit, reviving US club football's 1970s glory days when legends like Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff, George Best and Bobby Moore played out the twilight of their careers there.

On Saturday The Sun newspaper had Beckham on both the front and back pages.

"Adios (goodbye)," was one of the back page headlines accompanying a picture of Beckham and Capello while the front page photo of Beckham and his wife was headlined "Cruising for a bruising".
