Intercontinental Cup Update: Flu Sweeps Real Madrid

The dreaded jet-lag will not be Real Madrid's sole enemy in Tokyo, where the Blancos are to play the Intercontinental Cup against Olimpia de Asuncion. In fact the team travelled to Japan on Thursday with several players affected by bouts of flu.

Some players have anginae, while others are only struggling with a mere cold. The likes of Cesar, Pavon, Luis Figo and Steve McManaman are said to be affected by this bacteria attack.

"Those who are ill at this present time should be ready in time to play the Olimpia match", doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez said. "The injured players are more a cause for concern than the ill ones". Makelele, Guti and Raul Bravo are all doubtful for the game.
