Inter Milan signing Samuel: Real Madrid didn't believe in me

Inter Milan completed the signing of Real Madrid defender Walter Samuel yesterday for £12 million.
 
The final details holding up the deal, Samuel's insistence of a golden handshake from Real, was solved with Inter agreeing a signing-on bonus of £2.4 million.

Samuel has signed a four-year contract worth £23 million and said: "Inter has spent a lot on me and these days that is not easy."

"This commitment humbles me and I am determined to repay that faith. I know of most of the members of the Nerazzurra defence and I'm sure there will be harmony amongst us."

"I am anxious to join my new teammates."

"I went to Real in order to win, but we were not successful. I do not want to create controversies. In Madrid they have not believed in me and fortunately I have found Inter that is betting on my future."
