Inter Milan join chase for Fábio Coentrão

Inter Milan are the latest club to inquire about the services of Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao, joining Benfica, Manchester United, Roma and Tottenham for the Portuguese international.

According to Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan have reportedly given up on signing Manchester City’s Gael Clichy and Zenit’s Domenico Cristico, due to the complexity of their deals and have turned their attention to Coentrao.

Coentrao has struggled with injury over the past two years, leaving the starting spot to Marcelo, but despite the 27-year-old’s lack of consistent play under former manager Carlos Ancelotti, there is no shortage of suitors ready to try and get the best from Coentrao.

Coentrao joined Real Madrid in July of 2011 in a €30 million move from Benfica, but problems on and off the pitch have caused him to fall out of favour with all three managers he’d played for an failed to live up to the potential he showed in Portugal.
