Injured Madrid midfielder Diarra out for 2 weeks

Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra will be sidelined for two weeks after injuring his knee while playing for Mali at the African Cup of Nations.

The Spanish club says Diarra returned with pain in his right knee, and scans Thursday revealed it is inflamed and contains fluid.

It’s the same knee Diarra had an operation on at the end of 2008 after also being injured while on international duty.

Diarra has made seven appearances for Madrid this season.
