“I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence” – Isco hopes international form will impress Madrid manager

Real Madrid’s Isco says he wants to earn the same faith from Zinedine Zidane that he has earned from Spain coach Julen Lopetegui.

La Furia Roja recorded a dominant 6-1 international friendly victory over Argentina on Wednesday morning, with the 25-year-old netting a hat-trick along with goals from Diego Costa, Thiago Alcantara and Iago Aspas.

A regular fixture on the national teamsheet, yet one that is often on the fringes of the Real Madrid starting XI – Isco admits that he is not as optimistic when it comes to the club level, but hopes this latest performance will give Zidane something to ponder.

"In Madrid I don’t have the confidence a player needs," he said to the media.

"The matches with the national team give me life. Here I have the confidence of the coach."

"I want to show that I’m a good player. Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me.

“Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence."

Spain manger Lopetegui says that the confidence of his players will be deservedly high after the result, yet as Argentina did not have the talismanic Lionel Messi in their squad, he knows the challenges will be far more difficult come June.

"It is an important victory but it does not give points in the World Cup," added the coach.

"We are happy, but the World Cup has not started yet."

"Another thing is how we manage this euphoria. We know where we are, which is going calmly because we know what a World Cup is about."
