Huntelaar Preparing To Make Real Madrid Debut

Despite not being predicted to be back for another week, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's first game for Real Madrid could be brought forward due to the club's shortage of options up front.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is preparing to make his Real Madrid debut this weekend with Juande Ramos likely to be forced to rush the Dutchman back into action because Gonzalo Higuaín is suffering from tonsilitis.

The Dutch striker officially joined Los Merengues this week from Ajax when the transfer window opened on Thursday having already trained with the club for the past two weeks.

Higuaín may well have to have his tonsils out after returning from the festive break and Madrid's shortage of forwards has meant that Huntelaar could well be asked to step in against Villarreal this weekend.

Originally, Ramos was keen to be cautious because the 25-year-old was not set to return to action until Sunday following an operation on a ligament injury in early November.

Huntelaar has impressed in his first few training sessions with Madrid and that has led to club doctors and the coaching staff believing that he could at least start against Villarreal on Sunday.

The festive break was also crucial as Ramos instilled his new fitness regime into the players by making them wear monitors and stated that any player reporting back even a fraction overweight would be in trouble.

While Huntelaar may have returned late to training on Monday due to a delayed flight, he has made up for it by working hard and proving that he has improved physically during the holidays.
