Houllier likens Cheyrou to Real Madrid ace Zidane

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has likened midfielder Bruno Cheyrou with French and Real Madrid ace Zinedine Zidane.

Cheyrou made his first Premiership start in Liverpool's 3-2 win at Bolton on Saturday.

Houllier said, "I thought Bruno played well."

"He showed some good touches and some good skill, and although it is difficult to compare players, he plays in a similar style to Zinedine Zidane with some of his play."

"A lot of players come here and are surprised by the quality and the intensity of commitment, but once you overcome that you become a better player, like with Robert Pires."

"Sylvain Wiltord is a striker who can play on the right or on the left, and you need your forward players to adapt, and Bruno can do that."
