Coach Jose Mourinho said on Wednesday that Higuain “has played for the first time what can be called a traditional game with the players of Real Madrid Castilla (Madrid’s B-team) during 60 minutes.”
Mourinho said the Argentine international is not completely recovered but that he is expected back soon.
Higuain scored 10 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions before a back hernia forced him to undergo surgery.
Madrid brought in Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City to replace him in January.
Higuain has been a regular in Madrid’s lineup since arriving from River Plate in 2007.
