Hierro: We must stay calm

Real Madrid captain Fernando Hierro believes it is important that the players keep their feet on the ground after their recent good run.

Real are in a good position to progress to the quarter finals of the Champions League and they have also won three of their last four La Liga games.

After a dreadful start to the season, Vicente Del Bosque's side are just four points behind leaders Deportivo La Coruna.

However, Hierro is urging caution. "In football, it is a virtue to keep calm," he told Real Madrid TV.

"Now people are starting to talk about our fantastic form because we have won three games on the trot, that means we are in a climate of euphoria, but we shouldn't fool ourselves.

"This is the best moment to be humble and not jump on the bandwagon, we have to keep our calm and tranquillity."

The Real legend also praised the form of young centre-back Francisco Pavon.

"Pavon has done the unthinkable," he said.

"He has managed to stop the press talking about Madrid buying another defender for a whole month."

"He has integrated perfectly and has quality to spare to be in this squad."
