Helguera unsure of Real Madrid future

Defender Ivan Helguera is unsure of his future at Real Madrid.

While he is contracted to Real until 2009, Helguera still has doubts over whether he will still be with the club for the start of preseason training later this year.

DiarioSport says a clause in Helguera's deal means Real will have to cough up a cool £700,000 should he complete 30 games this season. The defender is currently sitting on 27 and was upset after being completely blanked for Sunday's victory at Athletic Bilbao.

Last summer, Helguera came close to joining Racing Santander, only for the deal to collapse in the final moments of the transfer window.
