Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera is desperate to help the Spanish champions bounce back in La Liga after two months out with a fractured ankle. "I can't wait to play again as I was depressed when there was nothing I could do about the bad results," he said.
The Spain star is likely to play against Roma in the Champions' League before he makes a return to domestic action. "I'm conscious I'm not at my best and I'm not likely to start right now. But I can be fit for the Roma game," he said.
Real, languishing 16th in La Liga with just two wins from eight matches, play Celta Vigo on Sunday, when Helguera will probably have to be content with a place on the bench.
"I'm sure to be in the squad, but it's hard to get a first-team spot when you've been out for two months," he admitted.
Helguera, who was linked to Manchester United and Arsenal last season, needed an operation after damaging his ankle in a pre-season friendly against Internazionale. He has not played since.
