Hamburg fancy cut-price deal for Real Madrid's Van der Vaart

Hamburg are chasing Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

Bild says Hamburg's board want to bring the Dutchman back to Germany when the market reopens in January.

Hamburg hope to take advantage of money still owed by Real for Van der Vaart's original transfer to strike a cut-price deal for the Holland international.

Real still owe €5 million and Hamburg hope to agree terms over a €2 million transfer, with Real's debt also being wiped out.
