Guti Set To Replace De La Red For Derby Clash

With the derby against Atlético Madrid approaching it looks as though Bernd Schuster will be able to recall Guti into the midfield, which means Rubén De La Red will make way.

Real Madrid have been in impressive form as of late but their resolve will be tested to the full next week as they travel to the Vicente Calderón to take on rivals Atlético Madrid.

The defending champions might face an Atleti side who were hammered 6-1 by Barcelona but there is no doubt that they will be keen to avenge that defeat and to do it against Los Blancos.

To help them overcome the challenge though Real Madrid will be able to call on Guti in the midfield, who, barring anything untowards in training this week, will be fully fit for the match.

His inclusion will mean that Rubén De La Red, who has filled in during the lay-off, will again be relegated to the bench and possibly come on for the second half.

Guti has faced Atlético fifteen times since becoming a Real Madrid first team player but he has never scored against them and will be hoping to break that duck next week. Alongside him in the midfield will be Mahamdou Diarra, Wesley Sneijder and Gonzalo Higuaín, whilst Arjen Robben could be ready but will probably not be risked.

With the derby confirmed for the 18th of October it will be nearly a month since Guti last played for Real Madrid against Racing Santander.
